This is my first shot at participating in Five Minute Friday. Writing with a timer next to me is not exactly my thing, but nothing else has been working to get me past my current block.
This week’s Five Minute Friday writing prompt is: CROWD
Crowds are not the awesomest thing out there. (The awesomest thing out there is someone bringing me coffee in bed.) I struggle with hypervigilance, which makes crowds kiiiind of a problem. (I have anxiety and major depressive disorder, so I thought to myself, “Self? We really need a third daily struggle to complete this set. Why not hypervigilance? It’s the new black. Goes with everything.”)
By way of example, this morning I went to get groceries at 6:00am, on a Sunday, because I knew there would be no other shoppers there. I could cruise through the aisles, check out, and be done. Silly? You bet. But it works for me.
Now I’m caught wondering at what point I’m working with my own weaknesses, and what point I’m indulging them. For now, I’m just happy to have half-and-half for this morning’s coffee.
(Wow. I can’t write much in five minutes, but I did write something, which was the entire goal.)
I’m also joining up with Anna Nuttall Bloggers Links-Up.
In case you’re having a bad day, here’s a photo of my dog as a puppy.
You’re doing great. Enjoyed your five minutes worth of writing, your humour and your honesty about yourself. We all have our stuff and talking openly about it helps us all. Thank you and keep at it.
I appreciate your transparency. Yes, you wrote and that is the point. Good job! O, cute puppy too.
Absolutely doing it right! Also, I think every page of this blog has made me laugh. Welcome to the FMF party!
